LOCATION ~ CB10

Helen is a compassionate and dedicated ADHD therapist only first realising she had ADHD at 49.  She is no stranger to the unique challenges and perspectives that come with a neurodivergent mind.

Having grown up in a family where neurodiversity remained undiagnosed until recently, Helen has first-hand experience of the challenges this brings both in children and adults.  The strengths can go unseen, and the challenges may result in mental health issues.

Her own professional and personal experiences with immediate family include Autism, ADHD, Schizophrenia, Anxiety and Depression.

Throughout her school years, Helen grappled with feelings of being ‘left out’ or being thought of as ‘weird’ a struggle she sometimes recognises in her clients today.

The constant battle with emotional regulation and the fear of rejection are experiences that have shaped her approach to therapy, making her an empathic partner for those on similar journeys.

Helen’s professional background includes counselling at MIND, Place 2 Be and Childline, where she has supported children, young people, and adults with ADHD.

She now has her Level 4 qualification in Therapeutic Counselling, and is moving to a Level 7 (MSc) through the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling in neurodivergence to support her clients with up-to-date research.

Her personal and professional experiences have given her a profound understanding of the unique struggles faced by individuals with neurodivergence.

As a person-centred counsellor, Helen believes that every individual’s experience is unique.  She understands the importance of seeing you as a whole, beyond, but including, your diagnosis.  With this approach, she can help you understand yourself better, empowering you to see and action your own solutions.

Working in partnership with you, Helen helps you explore your feelings, thoughts and behaviours without fear of judgment.  She believes in the power of understanding and acceptance.  She is committed to helping you navigate your own path through whatever your neurodivergence has thrown at you.

Whether you’re looking for support, understanding or strategies to help build on your strengths and navigate your challenges, Helen is here to walk beside you.
