Carlene is an experienced Senior Mental Health Social Worker and dedicated ADHD Coach, whose personal journey and professional expertise equip her to support children, adolescents and adults living with ADHD.

Carlene’s deep understanding of ADHD comes from both her personal experiences being diagnosed with ADHD at 35 and raising a teenage son on the ADHD and ASD pathway and her extensive work supporting clients across the mental health landscape.

She has overcome significant personal challenges, including post-natal depression, alcohol addiction, homelessness, domestic abuse, and body dysmorphia, and these experiences have shaped her into the empathetic, resilient, and insightful coach she is today.

Carlene’s story is a testament to resilience, growth, and transformation, and she uses these lived experiences to connect with clients on a deeper, more meaningful level. She knows what it feels like to struggle with focus, self-confidence, and life transitions and she uses these insights to guide others towards a path of strength, self-discovery and success.

With over a decade of experience working across Local Authorities, NHS teams, and mental health services in London, Buckinghamshire, and Bedfordshire, Carlene has supported clients facing a range of mental health challenges. Her work has included supporting people with complex mental health conditions, co-occurring disorders, PTSD and substance misuse.

As Deputy Manager for the Mental Health Crisis Pathway, she spearheaded initiatives that improved client care, such as implementing ADHD/ASD screening, which streamlined the assessment and diagnosis process, enabling clients to access support much faster.

Her ability to transform adversity into strength has been recognized on a national level; in 2021, Carlene was honoured with an NHS Staff Award for her exceptional contributions to mental health services.

Carlene’s coaching method combines clinical knowledge, real-life experience and personal resilience to offer a unique, holistic approach. She draws on creative tools like LEGO, which encourages clients to express difficult emotions and thoughts in an imaginative and tactile way, often sparking insights that traditional conversation can’t.

Her coaching sessions are practical, insightful, and tailored to each individual’s specific needs and strengths, blending actionable strategies with emotional support to create lasting change.

She has a deep understanding of ADHD’s impact not just on adults but also on children and young adults. Carlene has worked extensively with children who have witnessed domestic abuse, substance misuse and county lines activity, providing support that empowers them to heal, grow and succeed.

As a mother to a teenager with ADHD and navigating the educational landscape, Carlene is passionate about empowering parents and schools to provide the right interventions and support. She has advised schools on strategies to meet the needs of children with ADHD, ensuring inclusive education practices and interventions that help children flourish academically, socially and emotionally.

With Carlene, it’s not just about managing ADHD, it’s about thriving with it, growing stronger, and achieving success on your terms.
