Jack is waiting patiently (not!) on the NHS waiting list for his ADHD diagnosis. His younger brother, older sister and father are all already diagnosed ADHD so it was no surprise for Jack to realise that he also has the family condition!
Having been brought up in a neurodiverse house, Jack wanted to learn in depth about ADHD so he could be a better brother and son. He began to read a lot about ADHD and attended ADHD family workshops. It was then he discovered that he was also ADHD, whilst presenting very differently to his brother.
Throughout school Jack was always known as the ‘cheeky chappy’ by teachers and was considered disruptive, primarily due to him ‘never shutting up’ and found himself frequently in trouble!
He later discovered this was due to being under stimulated by the school system – because as he started choosing his own way to study he soaked up knowledge. Numerous teachers told him that he “would never make anything of himself”, despite others really taking a shine to him and making him feel special. This left him with a fragmented sense of himself and not really knowing his place in this world.
Jack only realised later in life that he was neurodiverse and was very shocked to learn through conversations with friends and family, that the way he sees and interacts with the world is not necessarily the way everybody else does. This caused Jack a lot of upset and distress until he accepted that it is in fact his unique outlook on the world, and his ADHD, that is his super power and is likely what has played a major role in his success.
In spite of being let down by the school system, Jack did attempt A levels where he massively under achieved yet again; he felt the typical school system was just not designed for the likes of him.
Undeterred he decided to go on to University to study a subject he felt he could really sink his teeth into, Business Studies. Upon reflection this was the ‘safe choice’ for Jack as he thought it would guarantee him a job when he graduated. University wasn’t easy as there was a lot to learn in a short amount of time, however with his ability to hyper-focus, Jack was able to graduate with a First Class Honours Degree from the Liverpool John Moores University.
Jack has travelled extensively, seeing a lot of the world especially Europe and Asia. It was in Asia when teaching English for a summer in Thailand, Jack first discovered meditation and mindfulness and how they can positively impact daily life. Helping those who had less than him, but bizarrely seemed a lot happier and more fulfilled, led Jack down the path which he still walks today – wanting to help others feel better about themselves.
After graduation Jack took on a few different office jobs to pay the bills but didn’t find any sort of fulfilment or satisfaction. Trying to fit in to the office environment just brought on a sustained period of anxiety and depression. The completion of University, coupled with the unsatisfying roles and also the strong desire to help others being unfulfilled, left him feeling like a failure. Jack knew that something had to change and so focused all his energy on training professionally to directly help others – combining coaching with mindfulness and meditation.
Jack first trained in Life Coaching and Mindfulness and when qualified finally found that much sought after fulfilment in coaching clients. He furthered his training by achieving the highest level of Reiki – Master level and also trained in Hypnotherapy. His goal has always been to help others live a fulfilled life – identifying and breaking through restrictions and negative behaviours to lead a life free from all blockages.
Alongside coaching, Jack also delivers group workshops empowering others with the tools for emotional management.
Jack is currently studying his Masters Degree in Positive Psychology & Wellbeing, completing In 2023. This training includes Positive Psychology as well as Meditation and Mindfulness at a more in-depth level.
Jack co-hosts The Minerva Podcast, aimed at highlighting all the amazing people, individuals, artists, business and charity owners in and around Liverpool, allowing them to share their story. This has been a great platform for Jack to help others and share his own story. Having a successful podcast feels like an ironic twist of fate for the boy who was once getting in trouble at school and at work for ‘not shutting up’!
Jack is passionate about helping others have a better understanding of their ADHD brains and dysregulated emotions. He is passionate about empowering others with the tools and techniques to live a fulfilled, easy flowing and contented life.
Jack understands the trials and tribulations of being an ADHD teenager. He understands the difficulties of A-levels and university. And he understands how it can be difficult to find your place in the world as a young adult when you have ADHD.
He is passionate about working completely non-judgementally and having a real understanding of the positives and challenges of ADHD with his clients – helping them find out exactly who they are and what they want in life. Jack will go at each clients individual pace while they work through any issues that are holding them back and find and get on the right path that is going to fulfil them.
