DIAGNOSED COMBINED ADHD

Aimee has been working as a High Intensity Psychological Therapist for 8 years, initially in an IAPT service for 4 years offering CBT for a range of anxiety disorders and depression before specialising in Adult ADHD since 2020.  She then worked for the Worcester Adult ADHD Service offering ADHD triage, assessment and diagnosis and has designed and delivered ADHD group therapy as well as individual therapy.  Her Group therapy gained nomination for the Patient Choice Award in 2023.

Aimee herself was diagnosed with ADHD combined type in 2021.  She has been delivering keynote speeches to the Community Chaplaincy Association to psycho-educate staff on ADHD and why this is more prevalent in the prison population whilst providing solutions on how to adapt their support post-release to these clients.  She is passionate about de-stigmatising, raising awareness and providing solution-focused intervention for the ADHD individual as well as fighting for the underdog.

Aimee understands the struggle as a late diagnosed female and is passionate to help others gain insight into themselves and remove the toxic shame that can be associated with ADHD.  She focuses on the impact on interpersonal relationship difficulties, hormonal issues, focus and concentration, time management and organisation, rejection sensitivity dysphoria, short-term memory issues, impulsivity anxiety, anger and depression when looking at ADHD as a presentation.  She ascertains the client’s ‘ADHD signature’ to tailor intervention as well as address any co-morbidities.

Born and raised in Belfast Aimee has an acute awareness of trauma and the intergenerational effects of trauma.  She has a keen interest in trauma, ADHD and the effect of each on both.  She was trained in Belfast Cognitive Therapy Centre by trauma specialist Anne Kelly.

She has treated over 500 clients to date and loves to see them experience breakthrough and live happier, healthier lives.  This is more than a job, she views it as a calling and is committed to see change in how society views and treats individuals with ADHD.
