DIAGNOSED DYSLEXIC, UNDIAGNOSED ADHD. BROTHER & SON DIAGNOSED ADHD

Brian is an integrative counsellor based in Liverpool. He is qualified in Person-Centred counselling, CBT, Mindfulness, Hypnotherapy and Solution Focused Therapy. Brian works with adults and young people to support them with their mental wellness specialising in clients with ADHD, trauma, anxiety, depression, bereavement, loss and addiction.

Brian’s first experience of ADHD was when his brother was diagnosed 25 years ago.  Then his son was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 8 so Brian has been fathering an ADHD child for the last 15 years.

It was when his son was diagnosed he decided to train to be a therapist so he could learn more about ADHD. He took on a counselling placement at The ADHD Foundation in Liverpool and immediately started learning more about ADHD by working with clients who ALL had ADHD. He thoroughly enjoyed helping these clients and at the same time learning more about how his son’s brain worked and realising that he shared a lot of the same traits too.

Brian’s passion is working with people who are misunderstood and perhaps have been misdiagnosed. His true passion is working with ADHD clients as he can so easily relate not just as a father but also a brother.
Brian is also passionate at helping clients with trauma, addiction and anxiety.

Brian is diagnosed with dyslexia, a common comorbidity of ADHD, and understands the struggles this can bring clients as he has battled with the condition his whole life.
As a father of an ADHD son, he has taken on many battles with schools and health professionals to have his son’s voice heard and his ADHD more understood and accepted. Brian is more than happy to work with clients undertaking those same battles and understands their anger and frustration.

Brian enjoys helping his son and his clients understand their ADHD, celebrate the positives and manage the negatives of ADHD. He knows how therapy, counselling and coaching can help ADHD clients transform their lives and he has experience of working with clients titrating different ADHD medication.

Brian is able to see clients through Axa, Health Assured, Care First and WPS health insurance companies.
