JUDITH

SPECIALIST DYSLEXIA MENTOR AND TUTOR
CHILDREN 8+
TEENS TO 15

DIAGNOSED ADHD, DYSLEXIA, DYSPRAXIA & ASD

LOCATION ~ SL8 (online sessions only)

As an undiagnosed neurodiverse child, Judith found life both disorientating and challenging and felt completely misunderstood and misjudged by those around her.

This impacted her social, mental health and wellbeing and as a result, she significantly underachieved at school.  As an adult, she embarked on a quest to heal from her adverse childhood experiences by sharing her learnings with other neurodiverse people.  These experiences led her to become a Specialist Dyslexia Tutor and Mentor

Judith received her first diagnosis of Dyspraxia at 26, after reading an article in the Daily Mail by The Dyspraxia Foundation.  From that day she began to transform her traumatic experiences into her life mission.  She became an advocate for Dyspraxia Awareness in the late 1990s, raising awareness on both television and in publications, including the Daily Mail, and the Times Educational Supplement, sharing publicly the challenges she faced as an undiagnosed neurodiverse child.

She was the first adult patient in Buckinghamshire to receive Occupational Therapy for Developmental Dyspraxia. This was a defining moment, as this allowed her to apply for a job as a teaching assistant.  Over the next 10 years, she obtained a Teaching Assistant NVQ level 3 and became a Senior Teaching Assistant specialising in motor skills at a primary school.  She then went on to gain an OCR Level 5 Dyslexia Teaching qualification with the assistance of the Student Disability Allowance.

In 2008, Judith set up her own consultancy to support neurodiverse students to flourish in their literacy and life skills.  Shortly after this, she was diagnosed with Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia.  Since 2010 she has completed an ADHD coaching course, children’s mindfulness courses, personal and spiritual development workshops, and other continuing professional development.  At the age of 52, she gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology and now integrates her experiences and training to support and inspire others.

She has over 15 years of Dyslexia tutoring and mentoring experience and draws upon her personal challenges and professional training to support neurodiverse children and their parents; delivering a one-to-one service focused on literacy skills development.  She cultivates a positive learning environment by encouraging students to focus on their unique strengths to develop their skills and overcome their challenges.

Students are encouraged to revisit the basics to secure the gaps in their reading and spelling knowledge to strengthen the ‘foundations’, before progressing to more complex words.  Sessions develop transferrable skills that improve literacy, creativity, language, communication, confidence, self-esteem, and ICT skills, in a friendly, safe, and encouraging manner.  She also works alongside parents to educate and enlighten them about neurodiversity, signposting them to opportunities for further improvement, when appropriate

Judith promotes perseverance, resilience, and hope, as she believes these to be key components to leading a fulfilling life.  Laughter and serious fun are actively encouraged and analogies are used to help understand unfamiliar concepts.  Students are encouraged to bring whatever they need to the session to make them feel secure and comfortable, and it is not uncommon for dogs to join in the sessions!

Judith is the most amazing teacher who made all the difference to my daughter’s education both in class and at home.

She understands the neurodiverse brain so well and adapts her methods to make learning is a success and a pleasure. There is no doubt that our daughter benefited from her methods and managed to achieve a first at university, too! Highly recommend.

Mum & Daughter 8, Bucks

Judith has supported my son for the past year. His confidence has grown, and he appears to enjoy his spellings now, whereas before, he would dread them.

Mum & Son 7, Bucks

I cannot recommend Judith highly enough! She has helped both my boys with their spelling and also with their confidence levels. It has been lovely to see the positive change in them both at home and at school.

Mum & Sons 6 and 8, Bucks

During lockdown, I discovered the reason my son was struggling at school was because he had dyslexia and ADHD.
I put a post on Facebook and Judith was my angel to the rescue. Judith helped us and taught me how to work with and support him. She is patient, fun and dedicated and has become part of our family. Every lesson is fun with lots of laughter.
Judith is amazing with children, and because of her, he is already, within months, so much better with his spelling and writes more often, and the school has noticed a huge difference. I am so grateful to have Judith in our lives helping. She is an amazing teacher for all children with specific learning difficulties xxx

Mum & Son 8, Bucks

Judith provides a nurturing and friendly approach to learning. My son didn’t realise he was even being tutored! She works in a unique way, making sure the child engages physically and mentally with spellings, and understanding what each word means.

Within three months, just one hour a week, my son has gained more confidence in himself, his reading, and his writing. He has looked forward to his Zoom sessions, and she is always so patient.  My son has not had any official diagnosis of dyslexia, I just knew he needed a helping hand, which we have certainly received.

I highly recommend Judith, if your child is struggling with their reading and /or writing.

Mum & Son 8, Bucks

Absolutely 10/10 for tuition. Judith is very good with my son, who can be very challenging at times; she never gives up on him and really boosts his self-esteem.

Academically, she is working wonders with him, and it’s overwhelming to see his progress coming along. I would highly recommend it. Thank you so much, Judith. You’re a star! X

Dad & Son, 9, Bucks

Judith is amazing….. Her knowledge and understanding of my child were spot on. She is such a caring and kind human being.

She made my son feel that he was an intelligent and wonderful individual and that nothing was impossible. She taught us both that there were no mistakes in life, only lessons.

Judith gave my son hope and helped him enjoy learning again. I can’t thank you enough, Judith. You are awesome.

Mum & Son 7, Bucks

Judith has proven herself to be a fantastic source of support and advice both for my daughter and ourselves as parents. Our daughter really enjoys her sessions and has grown in confidence in a short space of time.
She really goes the ‘extra mile’ to make sure that my daughter has the foundational support that is so important. Cannot recommend her highly enough!

Mum & Daughter 9, Bucks

Judith is amazing!!! My daughter went from being in the 3rd set in English to the top set in 3 months! She is the absolute best xxxx

Mum & Daughter 10, Bucks

Judith is a very genuine, kind, and understanding tutor. She understands my daughter so well and, through her own experiences of dyslexia, is able to teach in a completely different way from school.

Her lessons complement school and have brought my daughter a huge amount of confidence.  Her lessons are taught using tools, art  and different techniques every week.

Give her a try!
